The Head Start-State Preschool Division is committed to helping children, ages birth to five, prepare for success in school by designing and delivering training in developmentally appropriate curriculum, instruction and assessment. The primary objective is to strengthen academic programs by developing a holistic approach that integrates pre-academic skills and literacy throughout the curriculum.
LACOE Head Start State-Preschool Division was established in 1979 and operates the largest Head Start program in the nation. The LACOE HS-SPS division contracts with school districts, private nonprofit agencies and child care partners to provide services to children and their families in Los Angeles County. The LACOE HS-SPS office supports its contractors by providing leadership in program compliance and monitoring, technical assistance and staff training. LACOE is a Head Start “Super Grantee” with a combined total funding of more than $200 million from federal and state sources. |
